Montgomery County stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 69-41 win over Treutlen. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-18.
Montgomery County had a senior duo take command as Amire Banks dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 assists and Marley Bell dropped a double-double on 23 points and 18 rebounds. Banks also pulled down eight rebounds for the first time this season. Erin Adams was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Jenkins County had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 47-35 win over Emanuel County Institute on Friday. The victory was just what Jenkins County needed coming off of a 66-30 defeat in their prior matchup.
Montgomery County's victory was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-0. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 22.47 points. As for Jenkins County, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.
Montgomery County strolled past Jenkins County in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 53-37. Will Montgomery County repeat their success, or does Jenkins County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
