Softball Game Preview: Meade County Green Waves vs. Bethlehem Eagles/Banshees

Meade County has gone a perfect 3-0 against Bethlehem recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Green Waves will square off against the Eagles/Banshees at 6:00 p.m. The last four games Meade County has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Tuesday, Meade County didn't have quite enough to beat Larue County and fell 4-3.

Meade County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kendall Buchanan, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Bethlehem entered their tilt with Washington County on Wednesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Commanders 11-1. The Eagles/Banshees might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matches by eight runs or more this season.

Malorie Thiel and Alexis Hume did most of the damage at the plate: Thiel got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Hume got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. With that strong performance, Thiel is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Paige Miller, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Bethlehem's victory bumped their record up to 18-7. As for Meade County, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.

Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Meade County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. However, it's not like Bethlehem struggles in that department as they've averaged .432. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Meade County skirted past Bethlehem 7-6 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Green Waves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
