Northeast took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top against St. Petersburg by a score of 4-1. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Green Devils recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Connor Weldon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, Luke Guzman was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Dudley, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, Largo posted their closest win since April 16, 2024 on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged Lakewood out 3-1.
James Price tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.
On the hitting side, Largo's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Adrian Fumero, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
