Baseball Game Preview: Wright City Lumberjax vs. Rock Creek Mustangs

Wright City has gone a perfect 6-0 against Rock Creek recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Wright City Lumberjax will host the Rock Creek Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Wright City's favor as the squad sits on 17 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Rock Creek has been banged up by 11 consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

Last Wednesday, Wright City didn't have quite enough to beat Pryor and fell 9-8. The loss put an end to the Lumberjax's undefeated start to the season.

Meanwhile, Rock Creek didn't have quite enough to beat Carnegie on Monday and fell 12-10.

Ryder Ribera was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Konnor Ribera made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Holden Pair was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Even though they lost, Rock Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .558. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

Rock Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Wright City, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

Wright City took their victory against Rock Creek when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0. Will Wright City repeat their success, or does Rock Creek have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
