Yorktown has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Langley Saxons at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Virginia (Yorktown is ranked 148th, while Langley is ranked 136th).
Last Thursday, Yorktown didn't have too much trouble with George C. Marshall at home as they won 56-42.
Yorktown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Andrew Maria led the charge by scoring 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Senkus, who scored 14 points along with two blocks.
Meanwhile, Langley pushed their score all the way to 58 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Herndon 64-58.
The win got Yorktown back to even at 8-8. As for Langley, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.
Yorktown beat Langley 79-66 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Yorktown since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
