Providence is 1-8 against Jeffersonville since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Pioneers will host the Red Devils at 5:30 p.m. Providence is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Providence will bounce into Monday's game after beating Perry Central, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Pioneers won by a run and slipped past the Commodores 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Pioneers have posted since April 30, 2024.

Sydney Laslie (2027) was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 6 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Leasor (2025), who scored a run while going 3-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
Meanwhile, Jeffersonville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Henryville.
Loralei Mashburn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits.
Jeffersonville's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Providence, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Jeffersonville's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Providence has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Jeffersonville, though, as they've been averaging only 2.8 strikeouts. Will Providence keep running through batters, or will the Red Devils buck the trend?
Providence suffered a grim 14-3 defeat to Jeffersonville in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can the Pioneers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
