Chattanooga Christian hasn't had much luck against McCallie recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Chargers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Blue Tornado at 7:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Chattanooga Christian took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Notre Dame, sneaking past 7-6.

The team relied heavily on Brooks Wykoff, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Keegan Nieckula was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, McCallie had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 6-5 W against the Cherokees.
David Stonecipher looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits.
At the plate, Chandler Jones was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jerome Lehoux, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
McCallie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.
McCallie's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-10. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Chattanooga Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6-1 record this season.
McCallie's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Chattanooga Christian has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .437. It's a different story for McCallie, though, as they've only averaged .343. Will they be able to contain Chattanooga Christian's hitters?
Chattanooga Christian came up short against McCallie when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 3-0. Can the Chargers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
