The Stark County Rebels will challenge the Peoria Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Stark County fell victim to Princeville and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Princes, falling 13-0. The Rebels haven't had much luck with the Princes recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Stark County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dillon Steelman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
Meanwhile, Peoria was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 22nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 18-5 to Urbana. On the bright side, the five- run effort marked the Lions' highest-scoring game to date.
Stlyz Drummond was huge no matter where he played even without the win. On the mound, he tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Jamar Seidel made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and two RBI. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.
Peoria's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Stark County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.
Stark County's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's matchup. The Rebels have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Peoria, though, as they've been averaging only 0.7 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Stark County continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Stark County's way against Peoria in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Stark County made off with an 11-0 victory. Do the Rebels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
