The Cuero Gobblers will face off against the Ingleside Mustangs on Saturday. Cuero is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.4 runs per game this season.
Cuero is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with a 5-1 win over Fredericksburg. Surprisingly, this marked the third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Natalie Taylor made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Taylor was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Natalyn Milliorn, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Reagan Reitz, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Cuero kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fredericksburg only managed five.
Meanwhile, Ingleside waltzed into their game on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Cottonpickers with a sharp 11-4 victory. 11 seems to be a good number for the Mustangs as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Kylee Ward was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Dara Davila was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Launa Walker was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Cuero's record now sits at 17-12-1. As for Ingleside, their record is now 24-13.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cuero hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .429. However, it's not like Ingleside struggles in that department as they've averaged .344. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cuero suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Ingleside in their previous matchup back in February of 2025. Can the Gobblers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
