The South Pointe Stallions will challenge the Great Falls Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. South Pointe is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.3 runs per game this season.
South Pointe made up a huge gap compared to their last game against York, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Stallions fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 4-2 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Stallions have suffered since March 4, 2025.
South Pointe saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Neal, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Kyler Hood also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Great Falls had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.1 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Redhawks with a sharp 22-8 win. The result was nothing new for the Red Devils, who have now won nine matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Austin McManus, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Jayden Brown, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
South Pointe's loss ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 9-2. As for Great Falls, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. South Pointe has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .461. However, it's not like Great Falls struggles in that department as they've averaged .513. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went South Pointe's way against Great Falls in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as South Pointe made off with a 16-8 win. Do the Stallions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
