Basketball Recap: Peyton Lee Key Part of a Team Effort in Eagles Win

David Emanuel Academy hadn't done well against Twiggs Academy recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The David Emanuel Academy Eagles strolled past the Twiggs Academy Trojans with points to spare, taking the game 51-36. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 77-46 win the Trojans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2020.

David Emanuel Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Peyton Lee, who posted 15 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. The contest was Lee's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Fields, who had 18 points and six rebounds.

Lee wasn't the only one working in the assists department: David Emanuel Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

David Emanuel Academy's win bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Twiggs Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.

The future could be bright for both David Emanuel Academy and Twiggs Academy: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. David Emanuel Academy will try to hand Pinewood Christian their third-straight loss when the two meet at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Twiggs Academy will try to hand John Hancock Academy their 11th-straight defeat when the two meet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
