Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 21 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat University 86-57 at home. Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Reis Butcher led the charge by scoring 16 points along with five assists and four steals. Those five assists set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Evan Haywood, who scored 17 points.
Meanwhile, Purdue Polytechnic had just enough and edged Tindley out 46-44 on Tuesday. Given Purdue Polytechnic's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while Tindley is ranked 153rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Purdue Polytechnic relied on the efforts of Antwan Dorsett, who scored 16 points, and Kaleb Tate, who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Tate scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Derrick Johnson, who scored six points.
Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.5 points per game. As for Purdue Polytechnic, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.
