Basketball Recap: South Stanly Falls Despite Big Games from Mya Mccray and Kanija Colson

South Stanly was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 34th straight loss dating back to last season. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 39-34 heartbreaker at the hands of the Gray Stone Day Knights. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Rowdy Rebel Bulls of the 43-28 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

South Stanly's loss came despite strong showings from Kanija Colson and Mya McCray. Colson dropped a double-double on 11 points and 18 boards, while McCray posted three points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave McCray a new career-high in points.

South Stanly's loss dropped their record down to 0-13. As for Gray Stone Day, the win snapped their losing streak at seven games and leaves them with a 2-10 record.

South Stanly wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 62-44 defeat against North Rowan on the 25th. As for Gray Stone Day, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Mount Pleasant at 6:00 p.m. Mount Pleasant has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
