Bishop Feehan was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to second in Eastern. Earlier in the week, the Shamrocks triumphed over Martha's Vineyard Regional 9-6.
Bishop Stang made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,100 from 10,035. The improvement was largely due to a 8-0 victory over Durfee last week.
The Vineyarders' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Isaac Higgins contributed 80 yards. DeShawn James helped Martha's Vineyard Regional's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 12 yards.
Joshua Cobb provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Coyle-Cassidy fell to Somerset Berkley Regional.
Joe Turney was the best wideout in the league this week as Martha's Vineyard Regional fell to Bishop Feehan. Turney racked up 3 receptions for 20 yards. James helped Martha's Vineyard Regional's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 12 yards.
Donald Herman's team's Mike Mussell and Turney have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Mussell has thrown for 413 yards this season, while Turney, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 12 catches for 154 yards. Cobb from the Warriors leads the league in rushing with 345 yards.
The Vineyarders' offense has scored 65 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while the Spartans have allowed only 54 on the year.
A big matchup in Eastern this week will be when Bishop Stang takes on Martha's Vineyard Regional. Ryan Sylvia's team is in first place, while the Vineyarders are in fourth place.
