Basketball Recap: Elbert County Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Elbert County had lost three straight headed into Friday's matchup, but Aj Brown didn't let it get to four. The Elbert County Blue Devils pulled ahead with a 55-54 photo finish over the Athens Academy Spartans on Friday thanks in part to Brown, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Elbert County's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-7. As for Athens Academy, they dropped their record down to 3-6 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Elbert County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-53 win against Hart County on the 21st. As for Athens Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 54-32 defeat against Tallulah Falls on the 21st.
