Huron is 9-1 against Grosse Ile since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Chiefs will host the Red Devils at 4:30 p.m. Huron is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.
Huron had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Riverview on Monday. The Chiefs put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 10-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Chiefs in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now won four in a row.

Bradley Hughes made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jackson Surma, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Dayton Miller was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Huron was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Riverview only posted a batting average of .259.
Meanwhile, Grosse Ile fell victim to Flat Rock and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Rams by a score of 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Red Devils have suffered since May 17, 2024.
Grosse Ile saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rocco Pascuzzi, who went 1-for-2 with one double. Kolton Bodner also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Huron's win bumped their record up to 21-4. As for Grosse Ile, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.
Everything went Huron's way against Grosse Ile in their previous meeting back in April, as Huron made off with a 23-6 victory. Do the Chiefs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Red Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
