The Kingwood Christian Life Center Academy Cougars posted their closest victory yet this season on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past True North 51-48. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Kingwood Christian Life Center Academy.
Fernando Martin was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Boyd, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
True North's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaxson Moss, who scored 18 points. Moss hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Aiden Parks, who scored five points along with ten rebounds and eight steals.
True North struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Kingwood Christian Life Center Academy pushed their record up to 14-1 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.6 points per game. As for True North, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-5.
Kingwood Christian Life Center Academy will head out on the road to challenge Faith Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. True North won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against CHSA HomeSchool at 3:40 p.m. on January 26th.
