The Tamaqua Blue Raiders waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They were the clear victor by a 72-52 margin over Panther Valley. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, as Tamaqua did.
Noah Mateyak was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points and 0 assists. He hasn't dropped below 18 points for three straight games. Cooper Ansbach was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on nine rebounds and 11 assists.
Panther Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chase Weaver, who scored 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Fisher, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Tamaqua now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Panther Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9.
Tamaqua does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Panther Valley will head out on the road to take on the Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lehighton is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
