The Pine View Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They fell 50-39 to Beaver. While losing is never fun, Pine View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while Beaver is ranked 19th).
Several Panthers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Charity Falaniko, who scored nine points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Falaniko has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Gustin, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Pine View's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Beaver, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pine View won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Judge Memorial Catholic at 2:00 p.m. on December 30th. Hopefully Judge Memorial Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Friday. As for Beaver, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Water Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Water Canyon is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
