South Sioux City is 1-9 against Roncalli Catholic since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Cardinals are taking a road trip to challenge the Crimson Pride at 4:45 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
South Sioux City is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 20-1 margin over Benson on Saturday. The victory was familiar territory for the Cardinals, who have now won three contests in a row.

Jonas Jensen and Jackson Jensen were a major factor while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Jensen pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Jackson struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At bat, Jensen scored a run while going 1-for-3, while Jackson scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Reece Stockton was a standout: he scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Keaton Ross was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Roncalli Catholic, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Everything went their way against Omaha Northwest on Saturday as they made off with a 10-2 win. The Crimson Pride haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Triston Granados tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Barret Valasek and Dominic Digilio did most of the damage at the plate: Valasek scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Digilio scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Roncalli Catholic is 2-1 when Digilio posts two or more runs, but 1-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Brady Shetlar, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.
South Sioux City now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Roncalli Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 3-8.
South Sioux City's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's game. The Cardinals have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Roncalli Catholic, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will South Sioux City continue to outrun the ball?
South Sioux City suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Roncalli Catholic in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
