The Cienega Bobcats posted their biggest victory since December 13, 2023 on Monday. Everything went their way against Rincon/University as Cienega made off with a 78-57 win. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
It was another big night for Evan Golembieski, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Isaac Sdobnev, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Rincon/University still got an impressive performance from Sam O'Dowd, who scored 14 points along with six assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Zaire Hays, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Cienega's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Rincon/University, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cienega won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Desert View at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Desert View has now lost 14 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 25. Rincon/University won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Sunnyside at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully Sunnyside focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 last Friday.
