The John Hay Hornets will venture away from home to take on the Brush Arcs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
John Hay is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Max S. Hayes on Wednesday. The Hornets blew past the Lakers 22-8. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Hornets' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
John Hay let Sydney McCain and Raegan Walker run wild. McCain got on base in all four of her plate appearances with six stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI, while Walker got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, seven stolen bases, and four runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Davis, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.
Meanwhile, Brush got the win against Andrews Osborne Academy on Wednesday by a conclusive 20-9. That's two games straight that the Arcs have won by exactly 11 runs.
Prajita Tamang was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and eight unearned) runs off six hits. Tamang was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
In other pitching news, Jeida Gardner looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Nyla Ross was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Ross is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Raia Ross was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Brush always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Andrews Osborne Academy only posted an OBP of .333.
The win made it two in a row for Brush and bumps their season record up to 2-1. The team dominated over those games too, winning by an average of 11 runs. As for John Hay, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
