The Alleghany Trojans were the 69-64 winner over the East Wilkes Cardinals when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. Alleghany took a 48-29 bruising from East Wilkes on Tuesday. Alleghany has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Alleghany lost, one person who can't be blamed is Conner Brown. Despite the final result, he scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. It was the first time this season that Brown pulled down eight or more rebounds. Zander Russell was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Alleghany has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. As for East Wilkes, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.
Alleghany won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Starmount at 8:00 p.m. on February 7th. Hopefully Alleghany focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Tuesday. As for East Wilkes, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against North Stokes at 8:00 p.m.
