The Crookston Pirates will head out on the road to challenge the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Crookston is no doubt hoping to put an end to an 11-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Crookston pushed their score all the way to 59 on Monday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were dealt a 92-59 loss at the hands of Park Rapids. While losing is never fun, Crookston can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 345th, while Park Rapids is ranked 106th).
Meanwhile, Wadena-Deer Creek pushed their score all the way to 60 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 72-60 to Henning. It was the first time this season that Wadena-Deer Creek let down their fans at home.
Crookston has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Wadena-Deer Creek, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-5.
Crookston was taken down by Wadena-Deer Creek 76-42 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Crookston avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
