Socorro is 0-8 against Moriarty since March of 2019 but things could change on Friday. Socorro will be taking part in a tournament against Moriarty at 4:00 p.m. Socorro has given up an average of 11.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Moriarty will be up against a hot Socorro squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Socorro came out on top in a nail-biter against Highland on Thursday, sneaking past 14-12.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Moriarty, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They never let Hot Springs get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory on Thursday. Considering the Pintos have won eight matchups by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Isabella Gallegos made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Julie Autrey, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, four RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ainsley Milligan, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Moriarty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .773. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hot Springs only posted an OBP of .167.
Moriarty pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.4 runs over those games. As for Socorro, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Socorro might still be hurting after the 13-3 defeat they got from Moriarty in their previous matchup last Wednesday. Can Socorro avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
