Sacred Heart can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent match two weeks ago. They blew past New Braunfels Christian Academy, posting a 45-17 victory at home. Given Sacred Heart's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 578th, while New Braunfels Christian Academy is ranked 1161st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brady Haas went supernova for Sacred Heart, rushing for 211 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries. Haas was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 67 yards. Sacred Heart also got a significant boost from Cade Steffek, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 89 yards.
Meanwhile, Central Texas Christian can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They breezed by New Braunfels Christian Academy on the road to the tune of 49-16. The win made it back-to-back wins for Central Texas Christian.
Tabor Tyson was his usual excellent self, rushing for 213 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 13.3 yards per carry. Tyson hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Loyal Morris, who rushed for 59 yards and two touchdowns.
Sacred Heart's win was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-9 Bishop Gorman and 2-7 Rosehill Christian (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 44.3% over those games). As for Central Texas Christian, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Sacred Heart has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 174 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Central Texas Christian struggles in that department as they've been even better at 293.9 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Sacred Heart came out on top in a nail-biter against Central Texas Christian in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, sneaking past 23-21. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Central Texas Christian's Reagan Ragsdale, who rushed for 211 yards and three touchdowns.
