After flying high against Annapolis Area Christian last Friday, Our Lady of Mount Carmel came back down to earth. The Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cougars fell to the Bishop Ireton Cardinals 27-23. Despite 85 more yards than the Cardinals, the Cougars couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Samuel Hodge, who picked up 160 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Hodge was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 69 yards. Another rusher making a difference was Jayvon Burrus, who rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown.
