The Northeast Dubois Jeeps on the road again on Friday and play against the Evansville Christian Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Northeast Dubois focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday.
Last Thursday, Northeast Dubois was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 33-29 to Vincennes Rivet.
The losing side was boosted by Bella Cummins, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and five steals. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points.
Meanwhile, Evansville Christian blew past Lighthouse Christian Academy, posting a 47-14 victory at home.
Peyton Geer was on fire: she scored 15 points along with five steals. Another player making a difference was Addie Grubb, who scored a point along with ten steals and seven rebounds.
Northeast Dubois' defeat dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Evansville Christian, their win bumped their record up to 12-9.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Northeast Dubois have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Evansville Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Northeast Dubois came up short against Evansville Christian when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 53-49. Can Northeast Dubois avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
