Bay Port is 9-1 against Green Bay Southwest since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Pirates will host the Fighting Trojans at 4:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Bay Port's favor as the squad sits on 14 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Green Bay Southwest has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Bay Port and Notre Dame Academy, and Notre Dame Academy kept the tradition alive. The Pirates fell 9-5 to the Tritons on Tuesday.
Bay Port got a good showing from Searin Mueller, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, Bay Port saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Hawley, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Hawley also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another was Tommy Berg, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Green Bay Southwest came into Tuesday's match having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out Sheboygan North 8-6. With that win, the Fighting Trojans brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.
Kaleb Langenberg was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 6.2 innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Braxton Murphy was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Jaiden Quintal-McKinney was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Green Bay Southwest's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 4-4. As for Bay Port, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.
Bay Port came out on top in a nail-biter against Green Bay Southwest in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Fighting Trojans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
