Weequahic has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the College Achieve Knights at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Weequahic will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Jersey Rankings (they are ranked 341st, while College Achieve is ranked 94th).
After only 15 points in their last matchup, Weequahic made sure to put some points up on the board against Montclair Kimberley Academy on Tuesday. Everything went Weequahic's way against Montclair Kimberley Academy as Weequahic made off with a 57-36 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Weequahic has posted since January 4th.
Weequahic relied on the efforts of Hekeimu Williams, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds, and Tyhir Barlow, who scored 28 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Barlow has scored all season. Tasir Barnes was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, College Achieve unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Sunday. They received a tough blow as they fell 78-62 to Montgomery. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Weequahic's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for College Achieve, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-7.
