John William Walker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because St. Andrew's Episcopal is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 1-2 otherwise. Walker was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, St. Andrew's Episcopal let Cash Myrick and Stone Myrick run wild. Cash got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one double, while Stone got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Cash has posted since back in April of 2024. Sargeant Moriarity also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
St. Andrew's Episcopal kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Pisgah started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Florence. They came up short against the Eagles on Friday, falling 11-3. The contest marked the Dragons' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Pisgah's loss ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.8 runs. As for St. Andrew's Episcopal, their record now sits at 5-2.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. St. Andrew's Episcopal has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Pisgah struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
St. Andrew's Episcopal was able to grind out a solid victory over Pisgah in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, winning 11-6. Does St. Andrew's Episcopal have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pisgah turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
