The Plateau Valley Cowboys lost against the Rangely Panthers back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Plateau Valley was dealt a 56-26 loss at the hands of Rangely. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Plateau Valley has scored all season.
Plateau Valley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Emaline Ealey, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Ealey also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Meloni Miller was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rangely to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ryann Mergelman, who scored nine points along with nine steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Annika Cantrell, who scored seven points along with eight steals.
Plateau Valley's loss dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Rangely, they pushed their record up to 9-1 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Plateau Valley will take on Hayden at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Hayden focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Tuesday. As for Rangely, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Caprock Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 16th. Caprock Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while Rangely is ranked 52nd).
