The Sahuaro Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 66-42 walloping at the hands of San Domenico. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Sahuaro came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 31st in Arizona, while San Domenico is ranked 255th in California).
Loss or not, Sahuaro got some senior leadership from Cassandra Coolidge who scored 16 points and Ny'Anza Brown who scored ten points. Coolidge scored a full 38.1% of Sahuaro's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Sahuaro's defeat dropped their record down to 14-4. As for San Domenico, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.
Sahuaro and Christian Brothers will face off on December 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Christian Brothers is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. San Domenico won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Rancho Christian at 1:30 p.m. on December 30th. Rancho Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully San Domenico likes a good challenge.
