Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wheeling). They enjoyed a cozy 75-60 win over the Streamwood Sabres on Thursday. The Wildcats pushed the score to 59-38 by the end of the third, a deficit the Sabres cut but never quite recovered from.

Several Sabres players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ethan Joseph Reyes, who went 6 for 15 on his way to 15 points in addition to seven assists and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Hovey, who went 5 for 7 on his way to 10 points and seven rebounds.

Wheeling's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-7. As for Streamwood, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Wheeling will face off against Berwyn/Cicero Morton at 1:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Streamwood, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 66-38 loss against Hampshire on the 27th.
