The Chapin Eagles struggled with assists on Tuesday (the Landrum Cardinals had 1200% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Chapin fell just short of Landrum by a score of 54-51. Chapin lost against Landrum in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 46-30 score last time.
Chapin's loss came despite strong showings from Reagan Haggard and Kiley Freeman. Haggard scored 21 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals, while Freeman scored 16 points along with 4 steals. Haggard scored a full 41.2% of Chapin's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Sami Stephenson, who scored 4 points along with 12 rebounds and 5 blocks.
Landrum got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Savannah Brown out in front who almost dropped a triple-double on 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 12 assists. The game was Brown's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Fortner, who scored 20 points along with 4 steals.
Chapin's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Landrum, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chapin is on the road again on Tuesday and play against South Pointe at 6:30 p.m. on November 28th. As for Landrum, they will square off against Blue Ridge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
