Basketball Recap: Knightstown Takes a Loss

Knightstown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Rushville Lions and fell 64-32. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-9.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Derius Moore, who posted two points along with five rebounds, four blocks, and three steals. The dominant performance gave Moore a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Brant Ellis, who scored eight points.

Rushville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Owen Zachery led the charge by going 5 of 9 on his way to 16 points in addition to seven assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Clayton Chase, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

Knightstown's record now sits at 2-12. As for Rushville, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 3-12 record.

Knightstown has already played their next matchup (against Randolph Southern), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Rushville will head out on the road to challenge South Dearborn at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Dearborn will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Rushville surely won't give up without a fight.
