Bishop Heelan Catholic (Sioux City, Iowa) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 4 in Iowa, but was stunned by
Decorah-North Winneshiek (Decorah, Iowa), 49-21. Decorah-North Winneshiek was ranked at No. 5 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Iowa coming into the week.
After taking the lead on a
Holt Johansen touchdown run in the first quarter, the Vikings led 21-14 at the half.
Decorah-North Winneshiek expanded its lead to 28 points entering the fourth quarter. DNW scored three times in the third, including once on a
Josey Jewell touchdown run.
Johansen and Jewell ran for a bunch of touchdowns for the Crusaders. Johansen scored two touchdowns on the ground and Jewell added three as well.
Connor Niles played well for Bishop Heelan Catholic. He caught one touchdown.
BHC came in allowing just 12.5 points per game this season.
The loss comes after Bishop Heelan Catholic defeated Grinnell 42-14 last week.
