The Whitesboro Warriors will head out on the road to challenge the Rome Free Academy Black Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Whitesboro is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Whitesboro was beaten by Camden 80-37. While losing is never fun, Whitesboro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 657th, while Camden is ranked 86th).
Meanwhile, even though Vernon-Verona-Sherrill scored an imposing 71 points on Friday, Rome Free Academy still came out on top. Rome Free Academy took down Vernon-Verona-Sherrill 87-71. The win made it back-to-back wins for Rome Free Academy.
Uzziah Grimes continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 33 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. He has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more points the last 15 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Deandre Neal, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Whitesboro's loss dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Rome Free Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
Whitesboro took a serious blow against Rome Free Academy in their previous meeting back in January, falling 82-35. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Grimes, who went 8 for 15 from beyond the arc en route to 43 points and 3 assists.
