The Edisto Cougars will square off against the Barnwell Warhorses at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Edisto has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Barnwell will arrive with five straight wins.
Edisto lost 10-4 to Silver Bluff on Thursday.
Edisto got a good showing from Brantley Thompson, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Thompson has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Edisto saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amariyah Johnson, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Barnwell ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over Woodland.
Jaidyn Devore made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over eight innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Devore was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
In other batting news, Kinsley Terrapin was excellent, going 4-for-5 with one stolen base and one RBI. Abigail Corley was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Edisto's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Barnwell, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Edisto has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .442. However, it's not like Barnwell struggles in that department as they've averaged .436. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Edisto might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Barnwell when the teams last played on Tuesday. Will the Cougars have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
