Reagan Kane made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maggie Heigle, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Maddie Sollars was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Strongsville hadn't done well against Medina recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Mustangs came out on top against the Battling Bees by a score of 6-1. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Mustangs as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Like Rocky River, Strongsville also got a great game from a two-way player: Addison Heidenhoffer. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Heidenhoffer was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Emma Hartman was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Stacey Mraz, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Rocky River's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-5. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Strongsville, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
Strongsville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Rocky River has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .458. It's a different story for Strongsville, though, as they've only averaged .306. Will they be able to contain Rocky River's hitters?
