The Murray Spartans won against the Kearns Cougars last Tuesday with 61 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. Murray came out on top against Kearns by a score of 61-49. Given Murray's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while Kearns is ranked 114th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Murray's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kade Whitlock, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinton Christman, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
The win was the third in a row for Murray, bringing their record for this year to 6-1. As for Kearns, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Murray will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Layton at 11:30 a.m. on December 27th. Layton has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 616 points over their last eight games. Kearns will finish 2023 at home by hosting Woods Cross at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Woods Cross comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
