Olympia has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against The South Lake Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Olympia knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully South Lake likes a good challenge.
Last Thursday, Olympia strolled past West Orange with points to spare, taking the game 34-20.
Romelo Ware was his usual excellent self, rushing for 303 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.7 yards per carry. Ware was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 58 yards.
Meanwhile, South Lake's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 35-7 defeat at the hands of East Ridge.
Despite the loss, South Lake had strong showings from Marcell Walker, who gained 148 total yards, and Kevens Charles, who rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown.
Olympia's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for South Lake, their loss was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-7.
Everything went Olympia's way against South Lake in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as Olympia made off with a 41-20 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Olympia since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
