Winnetonka had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over the Chrisman Bears. For the Griffins, this counts as revenge for the 5-0 victory the Bears walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Winnetonka pushed their record up to 6-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Chrisman, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Winnetonka and Chrisman could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings. The Griffins (ranked 249th) will meet Pembroke Hill (ranked 67th) at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Chrisman will take on Truman at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (317 vs. 134).
