Despite the loss, Sterlington saw an underclassman step up: Cooper Nelson went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 43 points and 2 assists. Nelson scored a full 69.4% of Sterlington's points, the 11th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kylan Bester, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Simsboro waltzed into their match Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They enjoyed a cozy 82-67 victory over Quitman.
This is the second loss in a row for Sterlington and nudges their season record down to 8-6. As for Simsboro, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.
