After a string of three wins, the Brookstone Cougars's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were dealt a 81-39 loss at the hands of Heritage. Brookstone has not had much luck with Heritage recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Brookstone's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chapman Dykes, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Thomas Henderson, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Heritage got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sam Mead out in front who shot 4-for-6 from deep and dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. Max Skidmore was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with seven assists and four steals.
Brookstone's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-9. As for Heritage, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season.
Brookstone will stay at home for another game and welcome St. Anne-Pacelli at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. St. Anne-Pacelli has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 334 points over their last five matchups. As for Heritage, they will be playing at home against St. Mary's Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Heritage's favor as the team sits on 15 straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while St. Mary's Academy has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
