Basketball Game Preview: San Clemente Tritons vs. San Juan Hills Stallions

San Juan Hills will be up against a hot San Clemente squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. San Clemente really took it to Trabuco Hills for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-40 win. The Tritons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 23 points or more this season.

Porter Hansen was his usual excellent self, going 7 of 12 en route to 24 points in addition to six boards and six steals. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Chase Tolliver was another key player, putting up eight points and 14 rebounds.

San Clemente smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 18 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, San Juan Hills' good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 61-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tesoro.

San Juan Hills' loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 19-8. As for San Clemente, their victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-5.

San Clemente came up short against San Juan Hills in their previous meeting last Wednesday, falling 77-66. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of San Juan Hills' Mason Hodges, who shot 6-for-8 from deep and dropped a double-double on 38 points and ten boards.
