The La Pine Hawks will square off against the Pleasant Hill Billies at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
On Tuesday, La Pine came up short against Creswell and fell 7-3.
La Pine saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryson Adams, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Meanwhile, Pleasant Hill made easy work of Glide on Wednesday and carried off a 14-2 victory. The Billies have beaten the Wildcats the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Wildcats has come to flipping the script.
Judah Kelso made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Kaden Fisher was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with five RBI and one triple. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Landon Kelley, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Pleasant Hill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
La Pine has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Pleasant Hill, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-5-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. La Pine has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Pleasant Hill struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
La Pine came out on top in a nail-biter against Pleasant Hill in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Billies turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
