Softball Recap: Babcock Snags Eighth Victory in Last Nine Games

Babcock made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Gateway, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Trailblazers were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Eagles on Thursday. Considering the Trailblazers have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Caylee Kessler was incredible, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Ava Greenwell was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Babcock is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Gateway, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Babcock will challenge Sarasota Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Trailblazers will need to watch out since the Blazers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Gateway, they will head out on the road to challenge DeSoto County at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
