Lynbrook hasn't had much luck against Santa Clara recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Vikings will square off against the Bruins at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Lynbrook put up the most runs they have all season on Wednesday. They blew past Monta Vista 30-17. With that win, the Vikings brought their scoring average up to 7.1 runs per game.
Lynbrook got a massive performance out of Maansi Kaligotla, who got on base in five of her seven plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. That's the most stolen bases Kaligotla has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Lee, who got on base in six of her seven plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Lynbrook was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .529. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Santa Clara got the win against MacDonald on Wednesday by a conclusive 19-5. The Bruins might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by ten runs or more this season.
Jasmine (Jazzy) Ramirez was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Averie Lopez, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
Santa Clara's record now sits at 8-9. As for Lynbrook, their victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-11.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lynbrook has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Santa Clara struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Lynbrook might still be hurting after the 23-0 loss they got from Santa Clara in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
