Galena barely beat River Ridge/Scales Mound the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Pirates' pitchers stepped up to hand the Wildcats a 6-0 shutout on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Galena pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for River Ridge/Scales Mound, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Galena will host Warren/Stockton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for River Ridge/Scales Mound, they will be playing at home against Durand/Pecatonica at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rivermen have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.06 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
